It’s been a good start to my London Marathon 2024 training plan! Despite all of the festive indulgence I managed to complete every programmed run. Here’s my week 1 training summary.
Just an easy 5 miles to get the legs moving again after the festive period. Have written a training plan and will aim to try and stick it. Some tough runs ahead so need consistency early on to build my base.
Was actually bang on 3 miles but forgot to stop watch so it recorded walking back to house.
Plan was to go to running club tonight, but barely slept last night and absolutely shattered. No way I could have handled it. So got myself out for a slow 6 just to keep the miles ticking over.
2 miles @ 9min/mile pace. This would be my absolute goal pace for a marathon. Don’t think I’ll achieve it, but may as well start training for it.
Rest day! Sat at home with a cup of Yorkshire Tea and a biscuit.
Back to it today with my first ever Park Run. Will remember for next time that the estimated time boards mean nowt! Spent the whole first 1K trying to get past people so I could settle into my pace. Will just start a bit further forward next time.
Going to take some getting used to this being up early on a Sunday to do long runs.
Normally don’t have anything to eat before morning runs but today I had a small bite to start getting used to it. Also starting practising with gels to find what works best for my stomach. Didn’t really need one today but still had it.
Well that’s my week 1 training summary. Only 15 more weeks to go.
